Eine Foxboro-E/A-Karte, auch als Feldbusmodul (FBM) bekannt, ist eine wesentliche Komponente in einem Foxboro Distributed Control System (DCS). Es fungiert als Schnittstelle zwischen dem DCS und Feldgeräten wie Sensoren und Aktoren und ermöglicht ihnen die Kommunikation und den Datenaustausch.
Es gibt zwei Haupttypen von Foxboro-E/A-Karten:

Standard-E/A: Diese Karten sind für bestimmte Signaltypen konzipiert, z. B. analoge Eingänge, analoge Ausgänge, diskrete Eingänge und diskrete Ausgänge. Jede Karte verarbeitet normalerweise einen einzelnen Signaltyp.

Universeller I/O: Diese Karten bieten mehr Flexibilität, da sie für die Verarbeitung verschiedener Signaltypen konfiguriert werden können, einschließlich analoger, digitaler und HART®-Signale. Dadurch entfällt die Notwendigkeit mehrerer Karten für unterschiedliche Signaltypen, was das Systemdesign und die Wartung vereinfacht.
Foxboro-E/A-Karten sind auf Grundplatten montiert, die eine Plattform für die Organisation und Unterstützung dieser Module im DCS-Schrank bieten. Welcher konkrete Grundplattentyp verwendet wird, hängt von der Anzahl und Art der für die Anwendung erforderlichen E/A-Karten ab.
