FC-SAO-0220M được thiết kế cho các ứng dụng an toàn SIL 2, bảo đảm thực thi trạng thái an toàn khi lỗi một cách xác định trong điều kiện xảy ra sự cố. Mỗi kênh được cách ly hoàn toàn, ngăn nhiễu xuyên kênh và bảo vệ logic điều khiển khỏi các nhiễu từ hiện trường. Không được phép sử dụng tải cảm, nhằm bảo đảm hoạt động dự đoán được của vòng điện với các thiết bị điện trở và điện dung.
