Here's how Bently Nevada Proximitor Sensors work:
- The sensor uses a coil to generate an electromagnetic field.
- When the probe tip of the sensor comes close to a conductive surface, like the shaft of a rotating machine, eddy currents are induced in the surface.
- The eddy currents create their own electromagnetic field, which opposes the original field from the coil.
