Triconex cables are special purpose cables used to connect Triconex safety instrumented system (SIS) components. These cables are critical for the safe operation of a plant, and must meet strict safety and performance standards.
There are different types of Triconex cables, including:
Termination cables: These cables connect the termination modules to both active and hot-spare I/O modules. (Triconex termination cables)
I/O module cables: These cables connect I/O modules to field devices. (Triconex I/O module cables)
Triconex cables are typically manufactured to meet specific requirements for fire resistance, EMI/RFI resistance, and flexibility. They may also be plenum rated for use in air handling spaces.
It is important to use the correct type of Triconex cable for each application. Using the wrong cable could compromise the safety and performance of the SIS.
